• December 11, 2013 - Bin Xu got his first lead author CHI paper accepted, about the value of showing multiple translations when using machine translation for real-time chat. This is work with Ge Gao, me, and Sue Fussell, and it’s very cool that it got in.
  • November 6, 2013 - Submitted an NSF medium grant proposal on work with Natalie Bazarova and Janis Whitlock about understanding self-disclosure online and using models of disclosure to support mental health (related to Victoria Sosik’s dissertation and the original Pensieve work). I know funds are limited and we all want some, but wish us luck anyways. :)
  • October 6, 2013 - Ge Gao and Bin Xu just submitted the final version of their CSCW 2014 paper with Sue Fussell and me on How Beliefs about the Presence of Machine Translation Impact Multilingual Collaborations. Looking forward to seeing them present Wednesday afternoon at the conference.
  • August 1, 2013 - Andrea Forte and I are co-chairing CSCW 2015. We’re keeping things quiet til CSCW 2014 is done, but it should be a nice take on Vancouver right around Saint Patty’s Day.
